Of course, Mega Gengar presents its own challenges, and that means you'll want to ensure your Pokemon party is prepped for the battle.

Mega Gengar Counters

Mega Gengar is a Ghost and Poison-type with resistance to Fighting, Grass, Fairy, Poison, Bug and Normal-type Pokemon.

Here's a list of Pokemon and their moves that counter Gengar, but be warned – they aren't easy to come by.

  • Mewtwo - Confusion (Fast Move) + Shadow Ball (Charge Move)
  • Origin Giratina - Shadow Claw (Fast Move) + Shadow Ball/Ominous Wind (Charge Move)
  • Mega Houndoom - Snarl (Fast Move) + Foul Play/Crunch (Charge Move)

For backup, we recommend Victini, Excadrill, Chandelure, Rhyperior, Groudon, Garchomp, Metagross, Darkrai, Hydreigon and even the standard version of Gengar.
