Pokémon Legends Arceus: How to Trade Pokémon at Trading Posts

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a brand new type of Pokémon game, featuring vast open areas to explore. It focuses on the ancient Hisui Region, a region that would eventually become Sinnoh. While in Hisui, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team and carry out various studies and research tasks relating to Pokémon to aid the team and fill out your Pokédex.

Once you're tasked with helping put together the very first Pokédex, you'll be studying and cataloguing Pokémon as you go before returning to Professor Laventon at your Base Camp with your findings. However, how does trading play into all of this? Trading is going to be a feature in the game, allowing you to swap out Pokémon with other players. Here's how it works.

How to Trade Pokemon in Pokémon Legends Arceus

To trade Pokémon, you will need to head to a Trading Post. There is one located in Jubilife Village, which is your main base of operations at the start of the game. There are a few different kinds of merchants here, including a clothier and a craftworks. The Trading Post will allow you trade Pokémon with other players.

You will be able to trade Pokémon with other players at this post. Pokémon Legends: Arceus won't have ranked battles and certain other multiplayer features usually present in Pokémon games, but players will be able to interact at Trading Posts. You can see this in action in the trailer below (skip to 5:56 if needed).

Players will be able to trade Pokémon, and players who aren't online will be able to find an item to do trade evolutions solo using a 'Linking Cord'. As for online battling and interactions, they're pretty much limited to the Trading Post. Whether this will ultimately be a good or bad thing, we don't know.

Trade For Items at Trading Posts

Other than Pokémon Trading, Trading Posts hold items that players can buy. These items can be exchanged for Merit Points, a special currency awarded for trading Pokémon with other players. We've yet to see what these items are, so we'll update this page as soon as we can.

That's all we know about trading in Pokémon Legends Arceus. We'll be sure to update this guide once more info is released. In the meantime, be sure to check out our Character Customisation guide. Elsewhere, there's our look at All Legendary and Mythical Pokémon Released So Far.
