If the popular Kanto starter Pokemon is your choice in the new Mystery Dungeon game, here's our guide to this Pokemon.

Be sure to watch our wide variety of Pokemon content here!

Charmander Guide

The Generation 1 Fire-type is available as the player or partner through the main game.

Usually, Charmander is chosen if the personality results is Naive (for female) in nature.

Its mobility is characterised by fire, meaning that it can travel through lava tiles but not water/cloud tiles and walls.

Charmander is a fire type, meaning it is weak to water and ground types, so you should pair it with grass or electric types such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Treecko or Chikorita.

Evolving Charmander

Evolution does not play a massive part in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, so it is perfectly ok to keep Charmander as it is.

Although stats do not increase from evolution, moves can vary. Once it evolves into Charizard, it can learn flying type moves such as Wing Attack.

If you do wish to evolve Charmander, you will need to finish the main story and enter the Luminous Cave - be sure to check our evolution guide for more details.
