Valheim is all anyone can talk about right now.

You've likely given in to temptation and bought it.

But, now you can't load the game without crashing?

We've all been there in a variety of games and it's usually a simple fix.

Crash On Startup And Loading Screen Fix

Administrator

One of the simplest reasons that the game will crash is due to administrative rights.

To fix this just right-click the game and press “Run The Game as Administrator”.

Otherwise, make sure the account you are playing on has administrative rights.

Anti-Virus

As much as our anti-virus software is constantly saving our behinds, they can cause some issues too.

They might be viewing the game as a trojan

Be sure to allow the application in your anti-virus settings.

Update Drivers

Outdated drivers are a no-no in general.

Especially when it comes to gaming and newly released games.

The fix is to update your drivers, here's how to do so:

1. Press Windows + R.
2. Type “DxDiag” and click OK.
3. Once the DirectX Diagnostic Tool load, select the Display tab.
4. Your video card’s name and the manufacturer will be seen in the Device section and you can see your current driver version.
5. Go to the manufacturer’s website and get the newest driver.

Local Data

If you can't find any faults with the drivers or anything else then check out your games local data.

You can do so with a file cache integrity check.

Follow the instructions listed:

1. Launch Steam
2. Right-click Valheim and select Properties from the menu.
3. Go to the Local files tab and click the 'Verify integrity of game cache…' button.
4. Steam will check over all of the game’s files, be patient, it can take a while.

Black Screen Issue

Fix 1

Come out of the game screen then enter back in.

You can do so by following these steps:

1. When your game is running, press the Alt and Tab keys on your keyboard at the same time to switch out of the game.
2. Press the Alt and Tab keys on your keyboard at the same time to switch back into your game.

Fix 2

Switch over to windowed mode, then back to full-screen.

You can do so by following these steps:

1. Once your game is launched and running, press Alt and Enter on your keyboard simultaneously to go to windowed mode.
2. Do the same again to switch back to full-screen.
