The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 features will be close to the original, which in the eyes of many will be considered the best game in the series, but that doesn't mean it was perfect; there are plenty of changes that can imrpove the game. Little information has been provided about the sequel and one can only speculate what changes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will bring.
What Changes Should Be In Breath Of The Wild 2?
New Areas And Environments
The Breath of the Wild world was beautiful and extremely detailed with brilliant dynamic weather. However, it would be really disappointing to explore the same areas - it would be tough to imagine how they plan to diversify this without having to recreate a whole world (which would likely take years to do). With the time between the previous game's end and the new one beginning, perhaps Hyrule and the community can develop to create more towns/villages, as well as further develop existing ones.
Improved Main Dungeons
While the Divine Beast dungeons were interesting, they certainly didn't have the same feel as the old-school temples older Zelda games had. I admire that they changed up the formula in this regard, proving they are not just recycling an old idea, however the options were always going to be constrained despite the unique features. In the sequel, bringing back temple styled dungeons would certainly be a great approach, as well as help develop the scenery and environment. Perhaps the new developments and a growing world could discover these hidden locations?
Changing The Shrine Puzzles
The shrine puzzles were a great addition to the game, but if we are exploring the same environment we can't expect to repeat the same puzzles we've completed before; these would need to be remade and revamped (it would also be great to exclude some of the combat shrines).
Weapon Durability Options
Many are divided on how they feel about the survival aspect Breath of the Wild brought and the durability feature within items. In the next game, to switch things up, it would be handy to be able to repair weapons or make the durability scale better with the rarity of the weapon. It could be a good idea to create a mechanic where weapons are much more affective against certain enemies and in specific situations, meaning players can not rely on just one or two weapons and increase the value of weapons.
Zelda As A Playable Character
From the trailer we were presented at E3 2019, we were shown a new side to Zelda, no longer someone we are trying to save but rather the hero saving the world. Having Zelda as a playable character will greatly flesh out the story and make the game more enticing to play.
