After nearly 9 years of waiting, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 has entered development. Releasing a new community post that outlined changes to The Contract and GTA 5: Enhanced and Expanded, they gave fans a quick rundown of what's next.
Releasing a statement, Rockstar Games confirmed:
With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.
Rockstar Officially Confirms Grand Theft Auto 6 Is in Development
While this next entry remains officially unnamed, it marks the first formal admission by Rockstar that a new game's in the works. Grand Theft Auto V first launched back in 2013 and putting aside the recent GTA Remastered Trilogy, there's not been a new entry since.
Rockstar confirmed that they'll share further details "as soon as we are ready," advising fans to keep watch over Rockstar Newswire. Elsewhere in this update, they also revealed GTA V and GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S features new graphics modes, 4K resolution, 60 FPS gameplay, and more. We'll keep you informed.
