If you're a collector of video games, the industry's recent neglect of physical media has been a real annoyance. Many are wondering if Alan Wake 2 is going to be digital only, and we're here to reveal if Alan Wake 2 will get a physical release.
The first Alan Wake game was released on discs and digital storefronts all the way back in 2010, with the remastered version launching the same way in 2021. Horror games usually feature some of the best cover art in the industry, so many fans have been eager to get Remedy Entertainment's latest game on their shelves.

Will Alan Wake 2 get a physical disc release?
There are no plans to release physical copies of Alan Wake 2 at this time.
In the Alan Wake 2 FAQ, the game's developers justify this choice by saying that it is "not uncommon to release modern games as digital only". They go on to explain that the decision will keep the game's price fairly low at $59.99 / £59.99 on consoles and $49.99 on PC.
Remedy also states that many players have moved away from physical gaming with the digital-only PS5 and Xbox Series S as examples. The decision to stay digital-only may not come as a shock to everyone, however. Just a few weeks ago, a Ubisoft executive talked about the eventual death of physical games, and staying digital likely saves Remedy a lot of money. We'll have to see if collector's editions or companies like Limited Run Games can satisfy collectors' needs in future.
That's everything we can share about the fate of Alan Wake 2's physical copies. You should also find out if the game is on Game Pass and if it will have New Game Plus so you can get your money's worth.
