Nintendo may be closing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, but the game will still be playable via Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete.

Complete doesn’t have all the original game's features—like online multiplayer—but there is still a way to connect with friends in the game.

Online Multiplayer in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Originally in Pocket Camp, players could connect with an online community of other users. They could buy and exchange goods, and some players could even send gifts to each other.

With the online service being scrapped, players won’t be able to do that anymore, but the developers did develop a feature for people to connect with other players.

Instead of connecting with people online, players can generate Camper Cards; these are personal cards of players’ avatars with their pets. The idea is that players will be able to generate and share specific QR codes that they can send to one another, and after the code is scanned, they will be able to get a new Camper Card in their collection of their specific friend.

Whistle Pass

Pocket Camp Complete also provides this new location called Whistle Pass. Essentially, this location will unite all the “players” in your Camper Card collection. These characters, just like actual players from before, can also gift you in-game items.

Some events happen at Whistle Pass, like a live concert from the game’s resident musician, K.K. Slider. By the looks of it, he may give a different performance depending on the day.

IMPORTANT: To update their card collection with their friend list, players must update Pocket Camp to the latest version, V6.0.0. Old players must also transfer all their data to the new game by June 2, 2025.

Transferring Your Save Data

Transferring your data will allow players to update their progress from their relationship with the campers and animals and the items they have stocked in their warehouses. The game promises to keep the original players’ layouts of their Camper, Cabin, and Campsite so nobody has to start back at one.

The update is fairly simple. All players must do is make sure they have a Nintendo account and connect it to the original Pocket Camp. By the time you boot up Pocket Camp Complete, the game will immediately ask if you will transfer your save data; from that point, you can just connect your Nintendo account, and the game will be able to take care of the rest.

Though some may be bummed that Pocket Camp is closing after all these years, the devs still have a calendar of events expected to take place throughout the next year. Who knows, maybe Nintendo could be cooking up a sequel soon enough.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is now available for mobile.
