When they’re not quoting the game in their school yearbooks or finding love mid-ult, the hardened veterans of Apex Legends can be pretty critical of their battle royale game of choice.
Often this criticism comes from the likes of experiencing a glitch being abused or seeing new players struggle to get into the swing of the game, meaning that it originates from a positive desire to see Apex improve.
This seems to be the case yet again with one player on Reddit’s assessment of the current state of play for those who only dip into Apex on a more casual basis, apparently only to find themselves stuck in a bit of a bind.
Are you finding playing Apex casually to be a bit of a struggle?
This theory is the subject of a recent thread in the Apex Legends subreddit, which began with a post from user Cseresznyebog, who kicked things off by declaring: “This game is dead for casuals.”, before explaining that they keep getting matched up with players far above their skill level, leading to an experience that isn’t very competitive or enjoyable.
It seems a number of their fellow Apex casuals are experiencing the same issue, with user Hyper_Oats saying: “It's very demoralising when my Silver III (legend) is having an okay game and suddenly my entire team gets steamrolled by some dude who has 12 kills and 2900 damage by the time the second ring closes.”
User Sugarfree135 shared a similar sentiment, suggesting that there’s too much of a gap between the highest and lowest skilled enemies a casual player will encounter most often: “It’s like you’re too good for bot lobbies but not good enough for the lobbies they stuff you in.”
Meanwhile, user Intrepid_Ad_9751 outlined their struggles to keep up with a lot of the uber-dedicated players occupying some of Apex lobbies, saying: “Unfortunately. as good as I can get (which is a diamond level 4), I can’t just get off and (then) hop (right) back up the ranks. There are some seriously talented Apex players and I can't keep up even if I play every day.”
On the other hand, user campingtunafish argued: “I think we (casual players) all need to take a breath and realise if you want to win games, maybe picking the most competitive battle royale (game) isn't the right (choice).”
