We've had some time to preview the new Dawn of Ragnarok DLC and if you want to read our full impressions, follow the link. For now, here's a little teaser:
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok looks to be as meaty an addition as you might expect, with added variety and depth as a result of its purely fantasy setting. We’ll have to wait and see just how deep the new power-ripping system goes, but for now it looks to leverage past mechanics that remain fan favourites to this day. I’m certainly happy to see social stealth return, at least.

Dark Horse announced a comic spinoff for Assassin's Creed Valhalla (thanks, IGN) that's meant to act as both a prequel to Dawn of Ragnarok and a follow-up to the original prequel comic, Song of Glory. The new one is called Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Forgotten Myths, and the first installment will release March 16 digitally and physically - roughly a week after the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion.
Alex Freed (Dragon Age: The Silent Grove) is the writer, and Martín Túnica is the illustrator.
Here's how Dark Horse describes Forgotten Myths:
Thor, Baldr, and Heimdall have discovered trouble lurking at Asgard’s borders once again. A mighty fire giant from Muspelheim is threatening the land of the Æsir. In the aftermath of the raging battle, Baldr discovers that the Muspels are now massing at the gates of Svartalfheim and begins a journey to bring peace to the realms.

AC Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok Story
Plenty. The 35-hour-long narrative takes Eivor to the Norse homelands, which Ubisoft said is roughly a third the size of England in the base game, as they become entangled in divine wars and the unravelling of myths.
Only this time, you're not Eivor - well, not completely. Dawn of Ragnarok sees Eivor fall into a deep sleep and remember their previous life as Odin. Ubisoft said Eivor-Odin will face a "new threat to Asgard from the combined forces of the Jotunheim frost giants and the demonic forces of Muspelheim led by the Allfather’s greatest nemesis, Surtr."
True to what the earlier rumors suggested, Odin will travel to Svartleheim and recruit dwarvish aid for his cause.
Everything New In AC Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok
Plenty, though much remains shrouded in mystery. Here's how Ubisoft's Mariana Gosteva describes it in a PlayStation Blog post:
The scale of Svartalfheim is indeed vast – we created a strong setting allowing us to expand the story of Odin in their quest to save their beloved son Baldr. But there is even more to that – one of our key objectives from the very beginning when designing the world was to offer to the players the opportunity to explore and investigate, to provide them with a playground where they can engage with a world very different from what they have enjoyed in the main game so far, and to experiment with all the fresh new ingredients we are adding to the gameplay.
Odin uses the Hugr-Rip bracer to pull off classic Assassin's Creed stealth kills, and Gosteva teased a new system that lets players use the power of their enemies in new, strategic ways. While Ubisoft remained coy about specifics, there will be new weapon classes and abilities for Odin to unlock, alongside his unique ability to turn into a raven.
