Despite the family-friendly approach, Astro Bot is looking to be one of the biggest PS5 exclusives of the year. The adorable robots have been around for over 10 years, but the PS5 launch title Astro's Playroom thrust the lovable characters into the mainstream, and now, a full game about the Astro Bot is releasing.
While the team has been teasing Bloodborne fans with a familiar costume, Astro Bot was the hit reveal during a recent State of Play. The charming platformer is looking to expand upon the adventure and nostalgia found within Astro's Playroom - but it's not just the world that's being extended.
In an interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze, Team Asobi founder and president Nicolat Doucet revealed some new information about the upcoming platformer - including the fact that the developer created a new team within Team Asobi specifically for DualSense features.
Despite being a small team of roughly 3-4 employees, the aptly-titled DualSense 2.0 team is focused on creating new ideas on how the PS5 controller reacts with Astro Bot. 2020's Astro's Playroom easily offers the most interesting uses of the DualSense's various features (or gimmicks, some may say), and it looks like Team Asobi is going to further push them for the full experience.
However, that was far from the only detail that Doucet offered about the upcoming exclusive. The developer is promising roughly 12-15 hours of story for the main game, which seems like a good amount for a platformer. Doucet confirms the team would rather shorten the game than have it be repetitive later on, which shows good signs that the adventure is going to remain interesting throughout.
Doucet was also asked about a PlayStation-themed planet, considering the sheer amount of nostalgia in Astro's Playroom. However, the Team Asobi president doesn't want to get people too hyped. In any case, we're excited to experience Astro Bot's latest adventure.
Astro Bot releases on September 6, 2024 for PS5.
