If you're a fan of the Avatar movies, there's something magical about exploring Pandora. The wildlife and otherworldly vistas have been lovingly recreated, but are you really locked into a first person perspective as a Na'vi? In this guide, we'll share how to toggle third person view in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.
We've seen quite a bit of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora thanks to a hands-on preview, and were surprised at how vast it was. There are several traversal options available, but as the Assassin's Creed series makes clear, it's much easier to feel cool and see where you're going when playing in third person.

Can you toggle third person view in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora?
Third person view cannot be toggled at will, but the camera's perspective automatically changes based on players' actions.
During our hands-on preview, we noted that the game's action takes place almost exclusively in a first-person view, like the Far Cry series. It certainly makes it easier to line up headshots during ground combat. Thankfully, using mounts like the flying Ikran creatures makes the camera switch to a third person perspective for easier navigation. Na'vigation, if you will.
It's a decision that is sure to disappoint some players - in the Avatar movies, the Na'vi are known for their striking looks and impressive animation. The decision to keep most of the game locked in first-person means we're unlikely to see any action that truly rivals the movies, despite Frontiers of Pandora's status as a triple-A video game.
It's always possible that the gameplay offered by Ubisoft will make up for this, but for now, fans looking for a spectacle will need to watch Na'vi NPCs closely or enjoy the rest of the game's many otherworldly creatures.
