The TMNT melee weapons are OP

At the time of writing, there are technically five melee weapons in Fortnite, although four of them work exactly the same.

TMNT weapons

The TMNT Cowabunga event brought Michelangelo's nunchaku, Raphael's sai, Leonardo's katanas, and Donatello's staff to the game.

They give you mobility and a ton of close-range damage. There are four ways of using these weapons:

  • Attack: Hold the primary fire button to swing, swing, and keep swinging.
  • Air Attack: Press the primary fire button in-air for a devastating air attack.
  • Dash Attack: Press the secondary fire button to charge with your weapon.
  • Double Jump: With one of the weapons equipped, jump while you’re already in the air!

All four weapons have three charges, with each charge returning after ten seconds. Charges are used for the Air Attack and Dash Attack.

Another solid melee weapon

The Grapple Blade is another solid choice besides the TMNT weapons. It works in a similar fashion to them, except it's a bit more limited in terms of the mobility offered.

You can use the blade as a traversal tool by aiming at a solid surface, depleting one charge as a result. The blade can hold a total of four chargers with one recharging every 13 seconds.

As you can imagine you can grapple towards opponents for a quick surprise attack, it features a circular aerial attack and a variety of strong and fast less damaging attacks to combo enemies.

And that's about it for Fortnite melee weapons in Chapter 5 Season 1. As you can see, there aren't a ton at the moment, something we hope changes when Season 2 rolls around.
