Do you want to know the best Fortnite snipers so you can pick the right loot while scavenging for weapons? Then we got you covered.

Snipers are hard to use in Fortnite but can become very deadly weapons. Unlike other shooters, they are not hitscan but rather projectile-based weapons, meaning you'll have to predict your opponent's pattern to land a nice headshot, especially if you're sniping from afar.

In this guide, we'll tell you which snipers you should be on the lookout for while looting on the Fortnite island and what makes them great in Chapter 5 Season 1. While you're here, you might consider checking out the best assault weapons in the game too.

At the time of writing during Chapter 5 Season 1, there's actually just one sniper available in the battle royale loot pool - the Reaper sniper.

It's the best one simply because it is the only one available, still, it's a powerful one to have, especially with the introduction of weapon mods. The weapon itself is new to the game too, debuting this season, so it was practically made to take advantage of the mods system.

The sniper is easily obtainable and available as Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary loot.

  • DPS: 64.13
  • Damage: 121
  • Magazine size: 3
  • Fire rate: 0.53
  • Reload time: 3.15s
  • Structure damage: 116

Of course, how viable the weapon is will rely heavily on the mods it has equipped. You can find snipers with different mods while looting but there are also crafting benches where you can tune them to your heart's content.

These are the mods we recommend for each category.

Optics

  • P2X Optic: x2 magnification scope (without sniper glare)
  • Sniper Optic: x4 magnification scope (with sniper glare)

Magazines

  • Drum Mag: Increases magazine size by 70%, decreases reload speed by 15%

Underbarrel

  • Angled Foregrip: Reduces ADS time

Barrel

  • Suppressor: Reduces muzzle flash and dampens audio
