Exfil was introduced in Black Ops Cold War Zombies and is back in action in Black Ops 6 Zombies. This mechanic is designed to give players an optional endgame escape route in Zombies mode.
Surviving as long as possible was the focus in Zombies mode, so the chance to exfil when things get hectic really makes a difference. This article explains how to successfully exfil in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
How To Exfil in Black Ops 6 Zombies
To successfully Exfil in Black Ops 6 Zombies, you need to survive through a set number of rounds before this option becomes available.
Generally, Exfil becomes accessible around Round 11 and reappears at intervals, typically every five rounds (e.g., Rounds 16, 21, etc.).
When an Exfil round is available, look for a radio or marker on your HUD. Depending on the map, these are typically located in a set spot (such as the spawn room on Terminus or East Main Street in Liberty Falls).
Interacting with this radio triggers a signal to call in Raptor One or another Exfil helicopter, which then begins a timer and alerts nearby zombies. From this point, you’ll need to reach the highlighted extraction zone on your map.
Upon arrival, you and your team have a short window, generally around 90 seconds, to eliminate the required number of zombies in the area and clear a safe landing for the chopper.
The Exfil location will become a zombie hotspot, with more enemies spawning around you.
The exact number of zombies needed to complete Exfil increases as the rounds progress, so it’s essential to have your weapons upgraded (via Pack-a-Punch, for instance) and equipped with powerful perks and mods.
If you clear out the area before the timer runs out, the helicopter will land, allowing you to board and complete the Exfil.
However, if you don’t clear enough zombies before time is up, the chopper risks being overrun, which could result in a failed Exfil and an end to the game.
Some strategies can boost your odds of success. Kicking off the Exfil early in a round can be helpful once you've thinned out the zombie horde.
Keeping one or two zombies alive allows you to control the spawn rate and prevent additional waves until you’re ready to start the Exfil.
Completing an Exfil rewards you with extra XP and other items based on your current round, giving you a strong incentive to make it out intact.
Exfil requires all players to participate in multiplayer games, and coordination is essential since the difficulty ramps up quickly.
You can also use tactical items like the GobbleGum's Exit Strategy, which reduces the number of zombies spawned during the Exfil process and lets you trigger Exfil early if your team’s resources are dwindling.
For solo players, Black Ops 6 has introduced a 'Save & Quit' feature that allows players to save their progress under specific conditions. This will enable them to resume from their last point in later sessions without needing to Exfil immediately.
