The Augments system in Black Ops 6 has struck a chord, with players praising it as one of the top new systems. This level of customization was not as extensive in previous games, which makes it a refreshing addition.

These Augments allow players to further modify their Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. This article explains how to research Augments to improve your Zombies experience.

How To Research Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombies

First, you must hit level 11 to unlock the Augments feature in Zombies mode.

Once you do, head to the Weapons menu and look for the Augments tab. This is where you can equip and research Augments. However, before equipping them, you need to unlock them through research.

Augments fall into Perk-a-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. Each type has its own Major and Minor Augments that boost your performance.

Once the system is unlocked, you can choose an Augment for research. You can only research one Augment at a time, meaning you must be strategic about your priorities.

You might consider starting with Stamin-Up or Juggernog to improve your perk abilities. Likewise, you might choose ammo mods such as Dead Wire or field upgrades like Energy Mine based on your preferred playstyle.

Select an Augment to focus on by making it your Active Research. Any EXP you gain in Zombies mode will be applied to unlocking that Augment.

The perk, ammo mod, or field upgrade you’re researching will significantly speed up the process. You can still earn EXP toward your selected Augment even if you're not actively using it, but progress will be slower.

After activating your research task, you'll need to earn EXP in-game to progress. Progress is mainly achieved through gaining EXP in Zombies mode, which can be earned by completing rounds, killing zombies, and finishing S.A.M. Trials.

The more rounds you survive and the more elite enemies you defeat, the faster your progress will be. S.A.M. Trials, in particular, are great for accelerating your research, although they tend to be more difficult.

On top of that, if you have Double XP tokens, now is the time to deploy them since they can help you complete your research much faster.

As soon as you reach the required EXP to research an Augment fully, it will be available for selection in your loadout.

It’s worth noting that you cannot check your Augment research progress directly while in-game. However, you can quit the game anytime to check your progress in the Augments tab.

This allows you to see how close you are to unlocking new Augments and lets you switch to a different research focus before jumping back into the game.

This is especially useful to ensure you're making the most of your playtime by focusing on the Augment closest to being unlocked.

As you progress and unlock additional Augments, you’ll gain a solid boost, especially when the zombie waves get wild in the later rounds.
