The Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest names in gaming. Activision's shooter series is preparing to enter its next chapter with the launch of Modern Warfare 3 moving into view.

Before the next chapter in the Modern Warfare series releases, many eyes are on Microsoft attempting to close its acquisition of Activision after the UK regulator provisionally approved the $68.7 billion deal.

To add even more fuel to the fire, some Xbox users are allegedly receiving messages seemingly revealing old Call of Duty titles will appear on the Game Pass subscription sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty on Game Pass?

Eagle-eyed players purchasing Black Ops 2 from the Microsoft Store have uncovered a message revealing Treyarch's title is available to download as part of a Game Pass subscription, as reported by Twitter user Idle Sloth.

The appearance of the message implies Call of Duty could join the extensive Game Pass library in the not-too-distant future, which is great news for players wanting to take a stroll down memory lane.

In addition to the message, some Game Pass subscribers have received Call of Duty: Ghosts for no additional charge, leaving many to think that the rest of the franchise will be available once Microsoft manages to seal the deal.

When is Call of Duty coming to Game Pass?

The exact date as to when the Call of Duty franchise arrives on Game Pass is currently unknown. Considering players are supposedly getting their hands on Ghosts for free and receiving messages revealing other Call of Duty titles are included in their subscription, it shouldn't be long before Game Pass adds another storied series to its extensive library of games.

As with all leaks, it's important to take them with a pinch of salt until Microsoft is ready to share more about its plans for Call of Duty. We'll have to wait and see!
