In recent years, the Call of Duty franchise has joined forces with a wealth of famous faces in addition to numerous collaborations with film and TV series. Whether it’s Ghostface or Snoop Dogg, plenty of famous faces have made appearances. Now, Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 players are gearing up for another crossover.
Ahead of the Season 3 Reloaded update for multiplayer and the battle royale, the Call of Duty Twitter account is teasing an all-new collaboration despite hackers continuing to ruin ranked play and gulag winners spawning outside of the map.
Although little is known about the next crossover, fans have already figured out which NBA legend is on his way to Call of Duty.
An NBA and Call of Duty crossover?
On May 2, 2023, Call of Duty’s Twitter uploaded a short video showing a silhouette of a player dropping into Al Mazrah equipped with a basketball.
Fans were quick to notice the title of the teaser contained the initials ‘KD’, all but confirming the arrival of two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant. While some members of the community are excited by the appearance of Durant, others aren’t fans of the crossover. “The disconnect from your audience is deafening!” exclaims one frustrated user.
Sporting superstars are no strangers to the world of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. During Season 1, footballers Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Paul Pogba featured in their own cosmetic bundles coinciding with the 2022 World Cup. With the NBA Playoffs underway, a collaboration with one of the very best players isn’t a surprise.
