The Call of Duty series contains an extensive arsenal of weaponry for players to choose from. In Modern Warfare 2, for instance, there are all kinds of guns and weapons capable of making an impact in multiplayer matches.
With Season 5 Reloaded underway, Infinity Ward has added the 9mm Daemon pistol and the Lachmann Shroud submachine gun into the game. Although the appearance of new weaponry is exciting, some players believe new weapons currently take too long to unlock.
After noticing the new SMG arriving in this latest mid-season update is based on a simple system from a previous title, some players are letting the game's developers know that they aren't best pleased.
Call of Duty fans unhappy with Lachmann Shroud addition
Following the announcement of the Lachmann Shroud, user Swierky1996 took to Reddit to share that they'd spotted the SMG is based on an integrated suppressor from 2019's Modern Warfare.
They declared: "This scam shows the flaws of the 'platform' system in its entirety. All it allows is for them (Infinity Ward) to take a base model, swap out a few attachments, and call it a new weapon."
Other players recall a locked attachment from the multiplayer beta creating the Lachmann Shroud, with one suggesting: "This is literally one attachment that has been in the game since the beta as the LM Nebula barrel. It even showed up in the patch notes at one point."
While many are criticising the weapon platform system, some think platforms aren't to blame for the lack of original weaponry. One player in the thread said: "The new system is fine, considering in Modern Warfare 2019 you had to waste attachment slots to make other conversions."
Despite the criticism, the Lachmann Shroud is bound to prove a popular addition to the Modern Warfare 2 arsenal and may even contend with the best guns and weapons on offer.
