Season Two of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is well underway and as players continue dropping into multiplayer and the battle royale, leaks surrounding future content plans continue flying around.
The most recent seasonal update saw the anticipated launch of the Ashika Island Resurgence map amid claims Infinity Ward prioritises the success of Warzone 2 rather than supporting Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer despite the launch of ranked play and two new maps.
As the action continues, a recent leak claims Season Two for both titles is ending much sooner than many anticipated.
When is Season Two ending?
Following the leak of internal documents from Activision, Season Two will end on March 14. Typically, a season for Call of Duty lasts for at least seven weeks meaning the news of a shortening is somewhat surprising.
According to an Insider Gaming report, the leaked documents come from a data breach that took place on December 4, 2022, so there’s always a possibility of the Season Two end date changing. One eagle-eyed fan spots that the dates don’t consider the two-week delay for Season Two which resulted in a late start date. “You should take into account the fact that S2 was pushed back 2 weeks so none of this is right.”
Based on the current cycle, all signs point towards Season Two Reloaded launching on March 15 rather than Season Three. Perhaps Activision is scrapping the next mid-season update in order to bring the cycle back on track.

In addition to the shortening of Season Two, the leak includes information on Season Six. Although it’s several months away, the documents reveal it ends on November 8 which could point towards the launch window for Call of Duty 2023. As always, it’s important to take leaks with a pinch of salt and considering there are over 50 days remaining on the battle pass timer, something isn’t adding up.
