It's official. The Call of Duty franchise is on its way to Xbox Game Pass, much to the excitement of franchise fans.
Microsoft's long-awaited acquisition of Activision is nearing completion and with all eyes turning towards the launch of Modern Warfare 3, many have wondered whether Sledgehammer Games' latest project will eventually make its way onto the hugely popular subscription platform.
After several months of speculating whether the game will release on Game Pass, Activision Blizzard has shed some light on what to expect when the deal eventually closes. As expected, it's good news for Call of Duty fans.
On October 9, 2023, Activision Blizzard published an X post revealing it doesn't have plans on placing Modern Warfare 3 on Game Pass at launch. However, it does reveal it plans on adding games to the platform over the course of 2024, implying the latest Call of Duty could arrive in the not-too-distant future.
The statement reads: "While we don't have any plans to put Modern Warfare 3 or Diablo IV onto Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. We would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year."
For Game Pass subscribers, this is excellent news. At some point next year, subscribers will get their hands on Modern Warfare 3 in addition to every other Call of Duty titles which is great for those who love to take a trip down memory lane every once in a while.

Xbox Game Pass already has titles from a huge variety of developers and publishers, making the platform hugely appealing for those who play a variety of games. Adding Call of Duty into the mix makes Game Pass even more enticing.
