We heard about a potential big PlayStation remake coming this Christmas not long ago, and some speculated it could be The Legend of Dragoon. A recent rumor says that's not the case, however, and points to Square's Chrono Cross as the big Christmas remake. Chrono Cross was the sequel to Square's hit Chrono Trigger
A Redditer spotted the news on the latest Xbox Era Podcast, where show co-founder, Nick Baker said Chrono Cross is the big announcement slated for December, presumably at The Game Awards. He said:
“Chrono Cross Remastered, I think, was already on the Nivida leak list, so the game shouldn’t be a surprise – it was on Nvidia’s list," he said. "But I was told that that VGC article is about Chrono Cross Remastered."

Chrono Cross Might Be the Rumoured PlayStation Remake
He also mentioned how the game might not be a PlayStation exclusive and could end up being on multiple platforms.
“Now, when I hear JRPG and multiplat, I automatically assume PC, PlayStation, Switch, that’s my assumption. That’s not what I was told, that’s just my assumption. All my source said to me was ‘multiplat’. That’s what they said, they told me it wasn’t PlayStation exclusive.”
A handful of clues and traces about the long-rumoured title were seen throughout the past months, as we reported before, including a connection with Chrono composer Yasunori Mitsuda and a mention from Irish singer Éabha McMahon's statement that she performed a theme for the unannounced game.
Whether this is that game remains to be seen, as the original rumor pointed to a full remake and not just a remaster.
