Now that TikTok is back, alongside Marvel Snap, it seems like all is right with the world and everyone can calm down. However, there is now a concern that the US government might set its sights on other major Chinese companies. While things with TikTok were settled, some are speculating that the government could go after game company Tencent next.

It wasn’t that long ago when the PUBG publisher was accused of having ties to the Chinese military. Although the company denied this, the government could call them out for something else and that might be the end for them. Obviously, an arrangement could be made to settle things and keep them active in the US, albeit, with plenty of censorship.

Forbes points out that the potential deactivation of Tencent would be huge. Aside from publishing games like PUBG, they own League of Legends developer Riot Games. Considering how big LoL is in the United States and around the world, this would be a major blow to gamers everywhere.

Only time will tell if anything major hits the company anytime soon, though things can change in a heartbeat. With potential new policies in place, gaming could change in a big way and getting rid of companies that don’t fit with the government would be controversial. Only time will tell if anything that bad happens, but here’s hoping that isn’t the case.

Aside from owning League of Legends and PUBG, Tencent is mostly known for working on various gacha mobile games. If the US government ever took loot boxes seriously, that might lead to something bad for the Chinese games publisher. Until that happens, fans can only hope that their favorite games aren’t affected by this news.
