The Call of Duty developers updating Warzone have reportedly removed the Ricochet Anti-Cheat feature from the battle royale game as cheating hits an all-time peak.

Warzone cheats have become more prominent than ever as players spawn in helicopters outside of the map, use aimbots with grenade launchers and countless other exploits.

However, the cheat creators responsible for some of Warzone’s most infuriating exploits have revealed that they can’t be stopped as Ricochet anti-cheat has been disabled. This comes after the software was updated to force close games abusing aim assist on PC.

A Discord message from a CoD cheat provider showed that Ricochet had been disabled for a time, perhaps resulting in the huge wave of cheaters in the past week. However, it’s unclear if Ricochet is active again in the multiplayer games.

“Activision has disabled the anti-cheat for a limited time,” the cheat provider said. “Go and abuse all cheats as badly as you can. I recommend multiplayer, it’s the most fun.

Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players have been endlessly complaining about cheaters in both casual and ranked mode, but Activision has done nothing to stop it. While Ricochet was supposed to be the start of a cheater crackdown in Call of Duty, the anti-cheat tool has been largely useless against the recent wave of cheaters.

While hackers instantly unlocking the best Warzone guns or best Modern Warfare 3 loadout is annoying, it’s not as infuriating as cheats that actively ruin everyone else’s experience. For example, wallhacks and aimbots are still just as prevalent as they were in the original Black Ops, and CoD is infuriating, especially as games start costing more.

CoD cheaters and hackers may be having fun trouncing normal players with aimbots, admitting their complete lack of skill, but normal players are not. While we don’t know why people decide to play online with cheats, it’s easy to see why non-cheaters are getting annoyed at CoD overall.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available to play now on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Warzone can be played for free on the same platforms.
