While Cyberpunk 2077 has endured a difficult lifespan since its 2020 release, with a barrage of bugs and glitches on various platforms putting off players and limiting the game’s success, things finally seem to be looking up for the Keanu Reeves friendship simulator.

Following the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series set in the universe of the game, a lot of players seem to have been tempted into giving it another chance.

Thankfully, the version of it they’ve been delving back into has undergone some important fixes and improvements since their last visit.

Have you started a new Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough recently?

As a result of this trend, one million players have logged into the game every day for an entire week, which the game’s official account on Twitter has celebrated with a thank you graphic.

As pointed out in this post, these numbers are made up of both new and returning players, suggesting that the trend isn’t entirely limited to those who’ve discovered it for the first time via the show.

That said, the anime certainly does seem to have captured the imaginations of the game’s established fans, inspiring a bunch of new mods that can bring a taste of Edgerunners to your own adventures in Night City.

Among these are several centring around protagonist David Martinez, whose head, jacket and hairstyle can now be given to V thanks to modders luxunyingshi, Philomenta and Vessnelle.

Also on offer is the opportunity to transform V into Lucy, another character from the anime and the chance to take to the streets aboard the show’s rather eye-catching yellow Yaiba Kusanagi motorbike.

Regardless of whether you like the idea of making your next playthrough an edgerunner-themed one, make sure to follow us for updates on the wacky world of Cyberpunk 2077 modding and updates on the game’s upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion, which is set to debut in 2023.
