Voxile is a new game that will try to do what Minecraft doesn’t: add guns.
On the surface, this seems like your typical Minecraft clone, albeit a quality-made one. Players can create anything they want and fight creatures with a similar voxel aesthetic. The voxel graphics are nice, and there appears to be a ton of content to go through, which adds plenty of value.
Beyond the Minecraft-like gameplay features, the Voxile trailer from IGN also mentions that it’s more of a “story-based” crafting game. Considering Minecraft doesn’t have a story, this might scratch the itch for those who want their games to be “completed.” Not everybody wants to play games forever, so adding a story will intrigue another section of gamers.
The biggest talking point here is guns. Voxile seems to be taking some things from Palworld, adding guns to make the game more original and lively. While we don’t know if adding guns makes this voxel title feel more different, it looks fun shooting a bunch of these voxel enemies.
Players who don’t find the guns amusing can always stick with short-range weapons or, if we’re being honest, Minecraft. Since Minecraft is often targeted towards children, it makes sense that developer Mojang wouldn’t want to add anything too violent there. Granted, you can kill anything in the game with a sword, but parents don’t seem to hate that weapon for some reason.
Only time will tell if Voxile finds its niche audience like Palworld or gets lumped in with the other Minecraft clones. What’s seen here is pretty promising, and the story-based nature of this title might remind fans of Dragon Quest Builders.
At the time of writing, Voxile doesn’t have a release date yet. However, fans can try the game out on Steam thanks to a free demo. Curious players will soon be able to try it out in Early Access.
