Cyberpunk 2077 will offer full lip-sync on every dub in the game.

That's very uncommon in AAA game development, which usually only offers text translation and a fresh audio track.

Using JALI Research's tech, developer CD Projekt Red is able to match in-game facial animations with the dialogue.

You can check it out in action below, thanks to a pair of tweets from Miles Tost, Senior Level Designer, and Phillipp Weber, Senior Quest Designer.

JALI also created their own tech demo of sorts which you can see below.

A recent example of why this kind of work is important would be something like Ghost of Tsushima.

While the game is set in Feudal Japan, playing with Japanese audio doesn't alter the characters' facial expressions of lip-syncing, so it all looks a bit... odd.
