Cyberpunk 2077: Will The Game Support Multiplayer And Co-Op?

CD Projekt Red was cemented as a major name in the gaming industry following its work on 2015's Game of the Year, The Witcher 3.

That said, the developer has one of 2020s most highly-anticipated games in the latter stages of development.

We are, of course, talking about Cyberpunk 2077.

Mike Pondsmith's dystopian RPG will focus on providing an expansive single-player experience, much like in The Witcher 3, however many gamers in the community have raised questions about the inclusion of Multiplayer and Co-Op support.

Continue reading below as we discuss the topic.

Multiplayer And Co-Op Features

The main protagonist, V, will have male and female counterpart options

Interestingly enough, the developer has already touched on the subject of Multiplayer and Co-Op support in an interview (via Eurogamer).

In the interview, quest designer Patrick Mills had this to say:

"We have multiplayer in R&D, but the game we're shipping to you, the game you're going to buy is the single-player experience."

"That's really what we're concentrating on now, the single-player RPG experience. That's what we want to nail down before we start looking at any of these other things."

From the sounds of it, the developer will be focusing on single-player features until launch.

However, when asked if multiplayer could be added at a later date, Mills said:

"Maybe, no promises. Nothing at launch."

Now, we can't speak for our readers, but it sounds an awful lot like CD Projekt Red is considering implementing these extra features after launch.

So, it is safe to say that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a single-player adventure at the time of launch, but that doesn't rule out the idea of more inclusive features being added via DLC or updates following launch.
