Dark Souls remains universally acclaimed by fans, many of whom still play it to this day. However, if you're one such fan, you may be disappointed to learn the game’s PC servers are being temporarily taken offline, at least until Elden Ring's launch.
Speaking through the game’s official Twitter account, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware outlined measures that'll ensure Elden Ring has smooth online servers when the game launches, ensuring that "necessary security measures are in place."
Dark Souls Servers Will Be Offline Until Elden Ring Launches
Elaborating further, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware confirmed:
Due to the time required to set up proper testing environments, online services for the Dark Souls series on PC will not resume until after the release of Elden Ring. We will continue to do everything we can to bring back these services as soon as possible.
We will make an announcement as soon as the schedule is determined for resuming online services. Please stay tuned to the Dark Souls social media channels for updates. Once again, please allow us to share our thanks to you, our passionate community.
While there's a long wait, Dark Souls is primarily a single-player game, meaning it shouldn’t be a problem for most players. Dark Souls is available now on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
