The best Darkest Dungeon 2 team composition will help you make your way through the game. As it is an infamously tough game, you need to keep an eye on tonnes of stats, watch out for which moves you're able to use, and efficiently manage your items to fully utilise every member of your team.
In this guide, we go over what we believe to be the best team composition, plus how to get new classes, and how you should manage your team. Darkest Dungeon 2 has so much to learn if you're willing to put in the effort!
Darkest Dungeon 2 best team composition
Generally speaking, you want someone at the front who can tank damage, with two damage dealers after that, and a support at the very end. You can mix this up somewhat with more support or two tanks, but you should aim to have your beefier characters closer to the enemy and the weaker ones near the end.
Having the highest max HP and the ability to self-heal, the Leper is an excellent choice for the front rank. If you'd prefer something a little more straightforward, the Man-at-Arms has high HP and the ability to apply shield to themself and others.
After this, you should put the Highwayman behind your tank. They can apply high damage from any rank and can apply negative status effects.
From here, the Jester is an excellent choice for the third or back rank. They can apply supply, deal bleed damage and even heal stress - an incredibly valuable skill for later runs.
Finally, put the Vestal in the back ranks for their healing and general support abilities.
How to unlock new heroes in Darkest Dungeon 2
You get four classes from the very start, but you have to unlock the rest of them to add them to your team. At the start of an adventure, go to the Altar of Hope and spend Candles of Hope in the Living City. Unlocking new heroes gives you status boosts for other characters, so it's worth getting them all unlocked as soon as you can.
