How to Get Strange Coins in Destiny 2

You can get Strange Coins in Destiny 2 by completing activities in the Ritual Playlists, which includes Vanguard Ops, Crucible, and Gambit.

Given they are rewards for completing the core playlists, you’ll be able to stock up on Strange Coins in no time by playing your favorite of the three modes. Do note that Strange Coin drops are random and the amount you earn each time will vary. If luck isn’t on your side, then yes, it will take you longer to get a Strange Coin stockpile going.

Once you’ve completed all of The Final Shape missions and some of the Exotic quests like Wild Card and Destined Heroes to get Still Hunt and Ergo Sum respectively, why not put them to good use in Strikes or Crucible?

What Are Strange Coins Used for in Destiny 2?

Right now, Strange Coins are only used to purchase items from Xur, including Exotic weapons, armor, and potentially even Catalysts after the Xur rework in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

This might sound familiar to Destiny veterans as Xur used to accept Strange Coins in return for rare gear in Destiny 1. This system was changed in Destiny 2, where Xur then accepted items like Legendary Shards and Exotic Ciphers instead. Well, thanks to yet another Xur rework with Destiny 2 The Final Shape, Xur’s now back to his old habits of hoarding Strange Coins. Furthermore, you don’t need to search ‘Where is Xur?’ anymore, as Xur will now always spawn in the Tower.

That’s all you need to know about the Destiny 2 Strange Coins system and Xur rework in The Final Shape. Now get out there are start farming Strange Coins. Who knows, maybe you can even grab some Exotics to help you put together the best Destiny 2 Prismatic Warlock build, Prismatic Hunter build, or Prismatic Titan build as there are lots of strong options.
