Who is the main villain in Diablo 4?
The main villain in Diablo 4 is Lilith, the daughter of the Great Evil named Mephisto. Also, she is the Queen of Succubi, the lover of Inarius, the creator of the Sanctuary, and the mother of Nephalems. So, this character is really important, and has a big influence on the world of Diablo.
Who is Lilith and why is she so important in Diablo 4?
Lilith began her journey in the Diablo series as an Uber boss from Diablo 2. She was an alternative version of Andariel, and used exactly the same character model. The only differences were her skin colour, which was mostly black or grey, her moveset, and difficulty. Lilith was stronger in comparison to the standard Andariel.
More information about Lilith was uncovered with the release of Diablo 3. She is a former lover of an angel named Inarius. The Eternal Conflict between angels and demons lasted for centuries, and some of these creatures were tired of this war. Lilith and Inarius created a new world called the Sanctuary with help of the stolen artefact known as the Worldstone.
Of course, the Sanctuary is the world where most events from the Diablo games take place. It was supposed to be a safehouse for angels and demons who didn’t want to fight. There were numerous refugees who went to the Sanctuary together with Inarius and Lilith, and they created Nephalems.
Basically, these were children of both angels and demons, and some of the refugees considered them a threat. Lilith dealt with all of these renegades in a cruel manner, which caused the wrath of her lover. Inarius banished Lilith to the void, and now, in Diablo 4, she returns.
What are Lilith’s motives in Diablo 4?
The story of Diablo 4 has been confirmed to take place after the events of Diablo 3. So, both angels and demons are beaten, and most of their warmongering lords are defeated. It means that Lilith can take on a major role and fill this power vacuum.

It is still unclear what plan she has, but it is unlikely that she will team up with Great Evils or angels. Lilith leads the Cult of Rathma and spreads her influence across the world. Whatever the Queen of the Succubi wants to do, fighting her definitely won’t be easy.
Perhaps, players will have to cooperate with some of the former enemies to defeat Lilith, but we have yet to find this out. Also, her appearance will bring more lore and story to the franchise, which is always great.
