Breakdown
- Dragon's Dogma 2 has suffered from a number of performance issues and QoL features
- Capcom has announced that future updates would fix performance and add QoL features like making a New Game after already having a save
- No release date for these updates were announced
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an excellent game that’s difficult on purpose, but it could definitely use some quality of life features to make the journey more bearable. Thankfully, Capcom has announced that upcoming updates will include a bevy of improvements, including a performance cap for consoles and starting a new game, even after having a save.
On Twitter, the game’s official account has announced a number of fixes coming to all versions of Capcom’s hardcore RPG. This includes the aforementioned option to start a new game after making a save, making your dwelling (save and rest spots) happen earlier, and more.
Fixes specifically coming to the console and PC versions of Dragon’s Dogma 2 are also being worked on. PS5 and Xbox Series owners will get the option to cap the framerate at 30 FPS, turn motion blur and ray tracing on or off, and more frame rate improvements. Meanwhile, the PC version will improve the quality of character models and when the game is on DLSS Super Resolution.
While gamers do love Capcom’s RPG, the various frame rate issues have hindered the RPG’s quality to many. It’s come to the point that players are actually killing NPCs just to improve the game’s frame rate. Hopefully, these improvements will come sooner rather than later, as Capcom has yet to announce a release date for these fixes.
One aspect that won’t be getting fixed in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are the microtransactions, since gamers are thinking about them too much. Unlike other games, which lock gameplay features behind in-game purchases, these are all items you can get by playing. It’s disappointing to have even basic items like this as DLC, but Capcom has been doing this for a long time now.
Performance issues aside, Capcom’s sequel has already made quite the splash online, being one of the company’s most-played games on Steam. We at Gfinity were also huge fans of the game, giving it a perfect 10/10, despite a couple of performance issues.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available now on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series systems, and PC.
