Dragon's Dogma 2 is brimming with hordes of enemies and dragons are no trifling matter. Some legendary creatures from its predecessor have resurfaced, now twice as intimidating. The purpose of this guide is to equip you with a strategic approach to how to beat a Drake in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
A Drake is mostly scattered in Vermund and Battahl in Dragon's Dogma 2. They may be smaller than most dragons, but they are nimble and manipulate magic to their advantage, while their flames deliver devastating blows. But they are not without weak points, and that's when you can exploit them and apply your tactics to take them down.
With this guide, you can turn the tables on a Drake's damage and deal even more to defeat it. Before we reveal more, be sure to check out our other guides on how to get Fruit Roborant and hunt the Miasmite in Dragon's Dogma 2.
How to beat Drake in Dragon's Dogma 2
Defeating a Drake in Dragon's Dogma 2 takes smart positioning, timing, and exploiting its weak points. When a Drake lifts its front claws, it means hard-hitting attacks.
Make it a habit to consistently sidle out of its attack range well ahead of time to avoid being caught by its spewing flames or acid blasts, while also capitalising on opportunities to damage it. Don’t let your gaze stray from how potent its strikes can be when unleashed from its chest holes, and its tail whips during moments of rage.
When you are in a tactical stance, wait for the Drake to reveal its weak spot, then relentlessly attack it as much as possible. To deal great damage to the Drake, focus on its boils. Grab onto its side and attack the boils one by one. But be wary of the Drake's fire breath if you're attacking boils on its head or face. Don't stay attached for too long to avoid being flung off. Burst all boils at the same time to expose the Drake's vulnerable underside and deal massive damage.
Use items like the Savagery Extract for extra damage if you have them. Dodge its powerful attacks by running away when it charges energy in its claws. If possible (which is most viable for a Mage or Sorcerer), you can also employ ice-based attacks, such as ice-aspected weapons or Ice Magic. Don't forget to adjust your tactics based on your character class (whether melee or ranged), to minimise exposure to the Drake’s attacks.
