Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a lot of fans excited since it looks like an exceptional follow-up to what many consider an underrated Capcom gem. Fans were initially disappointed about the sequel since a preview claimed it was stuck at 30fps but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
According to game designer Hideaki Itsuno, the current-gen sequel will now be launching with an uncapped framerate, which is a big improvement. It will be interesting to see if the game will be able to hit 60fps, though we’re sure some gamers might push the RPG to do more.
Just to be clear, 30fps is far from a bad framerate and Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be more than playable to those who will choose to play it like this. However, there’s no denying that 60fps is a lot smoother for games, especially action RPGs like this game. Combat and dodges just feel more precise at 60fps, that’s just a fact.
When the game was first previewed, it was said that this sequel would be stuck at 30fps, which had many worried. It seems that this was just a demo build, though we hope that Capcom will release 60fps gameplay footage for PC and consoles soon. Despite 30fps being more than playable, 60fps has become the standard for current-gen games, at least for some fans.
There was a time when it seemed like Dragon’s Dogma 2 would never happen, as the first game seemed like a one-and-done situation. However, thanks to the re-release getting strong sales, it seems that Capcom has renewed faith in the series, at least enough for one more game.
Based on what we’ve seen, it seems like the sequel will bring back a lot of things fans loved. The crispy real-time combat makes a return, alongside the weird pawn system that has managed to endear itself to players.
