Dying Light has received a next-gen patch that is now readily available on PlayStation 5, with an Xbox Series X/S version coming later. While Dying Light 2 recently launched natively on PS5 and Xbox Series, this update is a performance patch via backwards compatibility.
On Twitter, Techland confirmed this next-gen patch for Dying Light would have three new modes that will focus on performance and graphics.
- Performance Mode: This mode focuses on performance. 1080p/60FPS.
- Quality Mode: This mode will focus on the game’s graphics. 4K/30FPS.
- Balance Mode: This mode will try to give players the best of both worlds. 1440p while targeting 60FPS.

Dying Light Gets Next-Gen Patch on PlayStation 5
It’s worth noting this update doesn’t mean a native PS5 port of Dying Light is coming. This patch improves the PS4 version of the game, similar to ones God of War, The Last of Us: Part II, and Horizon Zero Dawn received. Xbox Series players should expect the same for their Xbox One copy of Dying Light.
Dying Light is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The sequel, Dying Light 2, is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a cloud version coming to Switch in the near future.
