Elden Ring players are sick of being felled by swarms of rats and lobsters

While they may not have any massive expansions to dig into quite yet, Elden Ring players are still keeping themselves busy, with the long-awaited Colosseum DLC providing a fresh challenge for many who now consider traditional boss battles to be old news.

That said, even hardened warriors who can usually handle an endless supply of bloodthirsty fellow players and might even have considered trying to emulate streamer MissMikkaa’s run through the game on two devices at once can sometimes end up dying rather anticlimactically.

Thankfully, Reddit is currently providing an outlet for those Tanished who keep having to pretend they fell while fighting Malenia and Radahn simultaneously, rather than losing sleep over being one-shotted by a crustacean.

Which of Elden Ring’s critters or minor nuisances always manages to ruin your fun?

These woes form the subject of a thread on the Elden Ring subreddit, which was kicked off by a post from user 12Drizzy12, who asked: “What is an enemy you struggled with outside the ‘main game bosses’?

Their fellow players were quick to rattle off some creatures and characters that have earned their ire, with user pinkarroo1 declaring: “Any crucible knight can kick my (bottom).”, Glittering-Chart7181 simply nominating: “Runebears.” and Ripped_Van_Winkle287 lamenting: “I don't usually kill them, but the lobsters are ridiculous. They shoot so damn far with sniper accuracy, then camp on your runes.”

Also prominent among the list of annoyances was Caelid’s Bell Bearing Hunter, with user K1NGKR4K3N saying: “Caelid Bell Bearing Hunter was legit the hardest fight in the game for me. (I) killed all the others without thinking but got wrecked by this one probably 50 times.” and tophmcmasterson adding: “Seriously (what) is up with that guy? (You) go to Leyndell and steamroll Morgott, then you have this guy who feels ten times harder.”

On the other hand, some users suggested that their problems often lie in getting outnumbered by enemies like rats, with NobilisUltima musing: “I have a rule where when I go into a room and see rats, I assume there are actually three times as many as I can see. I can take four rats; but when you consider that there are actually twelve, I'm not sure if it's worth it.”

If you’re one of those feeling the weight of the rodent infestation plaguing some areas of The Lands Between, it might be worth taking a look at a new mod from evertonmoua called ‘Animals fair damage and others', which looks to help nerf some of Elden Ring’s critters.
