In recent times, New Game Plus has become a rather important component for most RPG players. This game mode lets players experience the game all over again, but with new challenges and changes to really test a players' strength.

Following the tradition of Souls games having New Game Plus, Elden Ring also has NG+ available. This mode will certainly make things a little more difficult than they already are around The Lands Between; enemies, like the Tree Sentinel and Margit the Fell Omen, are going to be much trickier to fell than the first time around.

Who doesn't like a challenge, though? In this guide, we explain how New Game Plus works in Elden Ring.

Does Elden Ring Have New Game Plus?

In an interview published the day before the global launch of Elden Ring, producer Yasuhiro Kitao detailed the New Game Plus mode, confirming that Elden Ring does have it. Not only this, but he confirmed that NG+ in Elden Ring will function similarly to that of NG+ in Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3.

How exactly will the game change, though, and how can you start your NG+ play through of Elden Ring?

How to Start New Game Plus in Elden Ring

Firstly, you need to have beaten the main story line in Elden Ring. Once you've got that far, and you've watched the credits roll, you can rest at a nearby Site of Grace and choose to restart your game.

Elden Ring New Game Plus Changes and Features

When playing Elden Ring using New Game Plus, there are no changes to the story or quests. Although, enemies will be much tougher this time around, and to reward you for your efforts when trying to beat them, they'll now drop more Runes.

Aside from enemies being tougher, you will also carry over all stats, weapons, items, and levels from your first play through of Elden Ring into your second, New Game Plus, play through. This helps you get started right away, and gives you a better chance against this extra-challenging enemies.

Elden Ring New Game Plus Max Difficulty

Once you finish a play through of Elden Ring in New Game Plus, you can actually attempt this over and over again to continuously increase the difficulty of the game with each play through.

Players can do this a maximum of seven times, reaching NG+7. This is, technically, the hardest difficulty that Elden Ring can be played at. Good luck!
