In the coming months, gaming nerds are set to embark on a nostalgic trip, thanks to developers opting to reintroduce the revamped versions of their classic games. Whether you're a seasoned player or a newbie, these remakes boast a modern touch that aligns with today's standards. One standout title in this trend is the highly anticipated Fable reboot.
Its predecessor, Fable, crafted by Lionhead Studios, debuted in 2004. This role-playing game required players to navigate a series of quests as they progressed through the plot. Now, the burning question emerges... how will the Fable reboot unfold? Fortunately, we have a couple of answers.

Fable reboot release date speculation
At the time of writing, Playground Studios, the team behind the Fable reboot development, has not officially disclosed a release date. However, a few months ago, during the Xbox Showcase event, Playground Studios provided fans with a sneak peek at the game through an in-game footage trailer that did not contain any information regarding its release.
While the question of an exact release date remains unanswered, there are speculations available, thanks to an IGN podcast featuring Microsoft Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer. When asked about the status of Fable, he indicated that its release is still a few years away.
Moreover, he acknowledged Microsoft's collaboration with Playground Games and reassured us that the development is progressing smoothly and you can expect the game before Elder Scroll 6 - here is the catch.
It is highly likely that Elder Scrolls 6 will be launched before 2026. Considering Phil Spencer's statement, there is a significant possibility that the Fable reboot will launch around late 2024 or early 2025, creating a reasonable timeline gap between the two upcoming titles.
What platforms will the Fable reboot be available on?
Much like Starfield and Forza Horizon 5, the Fable reboot will be a Microsoft-exclusive title for Xbox consoles. Obviously, this might be disappointing news for PlayStation users, but if you happen to own a gaming PC, you're also good to go.
As of now, there is no news or even a hint about available editions, but based on Microsoft's past exclusive titles, the possibility of multiple editions cannot be ruled out. Undoubtedly, the price may vary, either on the steeper or lower side, depending on the edition.
Most importantly, the Fable reboot will be available on Game Pass at launch. So this implies that you can not only get your hands on the game at a lower cost but also play it as early as the game is launched.
Everything we know about Fable reboot
The initial revelation about the Fable reboot took place in June 2020 during the Xbox Games Showcase. It was then described as a fresh start for the series. To undertake the task of revamping this iconic series, Microsoft entrusted Playground Games with the project from original creator Lionhead who was shut in 2016.
For those unfamiliar, Playground Games is the major studio known for the popular Forza Horizon series, making them a fitting choice for this significant endeavour. Furthermore, it was revealed that Fable will be created on the same game engine as the Forza series.
So far, we have only received two trailers. The first was just an announcement, while the second trailer provided a much better and more in-depth look at in-game footage of Fable.
Fable's gameplay impression
The trailer kicked off with a surprising introduction of Richard Ayoade, a popular British comedian and actor, who is set to portray the character of Dave, a fruit and vegetable farmer.
According to the lore, Dave doesn't seem to align with heroes and looks down on them, considering slaying mythical creatures not as heroic but rather absurd. His humorous remark, "I'm here to conquer vegetables, not euphemisms," set a witty and amusing tone for the introduction.
Furthermore, we witnessed combat featuring giant swords, bows, and other weapons, along with some finishing moves. Is this just the tip of the iceberg? Well, the best we can do now is to wait a bit longer for more details while anticipating the release of the next footage.
