If you get as irrationally attached to your virtual pets as I do, then Fae Farm has been a game to fall in love with. Woolyhorns, Cottontails, and Chickoos may make it a nightmare to get around the farm, but they're too cute to be mad at. They can be cuter in pink, though, so in this guide I'll explain how to get all animal colours in Fae Farm.

There's no real gameplay incentives for exploring different colour schemes with your animals, but your farm's aesthetics will see a huge boost. There's a good chance your serotonin levels will appreciate it, too.

How to change animal colours in Fae Farm

The opening chapters of Fae Farm are a whirlwind of new mechanics and NPCs being introduced, so it's easy to forget who does what. Animal breeding is mentioned once or twice by characters in the Plains of Plenty, and it's where players need to go if they want animals of a different colour.

Unfortunately, there's no way to change the colour of your existing livestock. The next best thing is to breed animals with the desired colour by taking an animal to a breeder. These breeders sell colourful charms that increase the odds of the offspring being a certain colour, but it's never guaranteed.

For Chickoos and Cottontails, this can be done by opening the ledger near their coop and getting the animal to follow you. Visit Loretta in the Plains of Plenty, select 'animal breeding services', and return three days later. You'll need to have the charm in your inventory and give it to Loretta before the breeding starts to make sure it get used.

Different NPCs are responsible for different animals' breeding.

For Mamoos and Woolyhorns, the process is very similar. Get them to follow you from the ledger near their barn, and take them to Patel in the Plains of Plenty.

Finally, Lunens and Spriggans. They should be taken to Tamael in the Elven village, who sells some extra charm colours that the human realm's breeders do not.

When the breeding is complete, a message will appear. You can then return to the breeder to discover what colour the baby is and register them at a coop or barn, assuming space is available. If it's not the colour you wanted, the baby can be sold and the process repeated. Otherwise, letting it grow for three days will see the baby grow up into a colourful adult.
