Looking to get your hands on some frost thistles in Fae Farm? They're a prime target soon after dealing with the Floating Ruins, but are harder to come by than you might expect. This guide explains how to get frost thistles in Fae Farm.

You'll get the quest to grab a frost thistle soon after your business concludes in the Fae Realm. This will take you up to the mountainous north-western region of the map, where a Fae named Zido tells you to turn back - the first of many complications on your journey to get the thistles.

While you're here, check out our guide to getting fodder to feed your larger animals. You should also look into getting a bigger house now that you're getting closer to the end of Fae Farm's story.

You'll go on quite a journey to get the thistles you need.

How to get frost thistle in Fae Farm

To get frost thistles, you'll need to explore the mountain area. The story quests will send you on a quick detour to bring milk tea to an ice seller named Oorlich, but you'll finally get the recipe to start making warmth potions. To make them, bring these ingredients to a cauldron:

Drinking the potion will let you explore the blizzard-blasted area for a few in-game hours. Be sure to grab plenty of berries - they'll be handy later. As you explore, you'll probably notice that the area doesn't have any frost thistles.

Eventually, you'll come face to face with a big friendly giant named Grell, and get a quest to clear away the blizzard. This blizzard is responsible for the frost thistles not growing, so to harvest them you'll need to complete the 'A Frozen Friend' quest. This will see you gathering:

  • Polished sapphire (3)
    • Rough sapphires are found on floors 15 to 21 of the Floating Ruins
    • 10 rough sapphires are needed to make one polished sapphire
  • Berry jam (5)
  • Frost beets (5)
  • Flutter dust (10)
    • Put some butterflies in a lowlands critter conservatory to gather this over time
  • Chopped vegetables (30)
    • Grow at least 15 cauliflowers and chop them with a food prep table
    • Other vegetables can be used as long as they're not root vegetables.

When the quest is complete, frost thistles can be harvested with a silver sickle. You'll need at least 2,000 florins and four silver ingots for this post-Feyrite upgrade, and can identify frost thistles thanks to their small blue / white flowers.

Before you go, check out our guide to getting frost fuzz, which will be helpful for a quest in future. We can also help you breed flowers of certain colours.
