When they’re not gathering alchemical ingredients, playing post-apocalyptic dress-up, or practising their mini-nuke touchdown throws, Fallout 4 players can often be found getting into massive firefights against an array of foes.

Mods can often provide some interesting new enemies for these Sole Survivor to slay, including the likes of pre-war Chinese soldiers and swarms of ghouls infesting uniquely spooky abandoned metro tunnels.

If you’re a vault dweller who constantly craves the rush of gunfire and the fury of combat, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.

Fancy dropping into a more futuristic faction-based fight next time you boot up Fallout 4?

The mod in question is called ‘Faction Reinforcements’ and is the work of modder RascalArt. Some of their previous work has brought alien invaders to The Commonwealth and given you the chance to make terrifying flesh-based robots.

This time, they’ve delivered what they define as “a collection of 'huh, I wonder if that would work?' concepts” to the game, all of which add something fresh and interesting to one of its factions.

Battling alongside the Brotherhood of Steel? Get ready to see your fellow troops call in a heavily armoured centurion unit armed with hydraulic fists or a vertihawk gunship brimming with cannons and missile launchers. Run into a band of Institute synths? They might be accompanied by a robotic biomass collector designed to harvest fauna for the underground labs.

Even the Minutemen finally have some additional firepower, via buildable mobile artillery units to give you the support that Preston Garvey never can. Unfortunately for Railroad fans, the only option available for synth savers is a Pikachu-inspired robotic companion called Mechachu that can be found at Wilsons Atomatoys Corporate HQ and is available to everyone else.

Odds are you’ll also need all of this extra backing if you’re planning on going hunting for raiders or gunners too, with the former gaining both mech units based on pre-war industrial machinery and “augmented” troops rocking metal limbs, while the latter now features tank-esque armoured personnel units.

Regardless of whether you’re now running around the map trying to acquire as many armour-piercing rounds as possible, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Fallout, Skyrim, and Cyberpunk 2077. You can also check out our mods of the month for December 2022.
