Fallout 4’s Commonwealth is pretty packed with interesting things to get involved in, from terrifying encounters that wouldn’t feel out of place in a horror game, to reunions with old friends and even the occasional five-a-side football match.

That said, no matter how big a fan of the series’ latest single-player entry you might be, most long-time Fallout players find themselves dipping back into the likes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas from time to time.

Those who prefer the latter might already be aware of a massive modding project currently in the works, which is aiming to re-create the Mojave Wasteland and its contents in Fallout 4’s engine and whose creators have just shared a bunch of new snippets of what this could look like.

Are you looking forward to playing New Vegas in Fallout 4?

These previews of various items and features currently being worked on as part of the mod were posted to kick off what its creators have dubbed their 2022 showcase week, with a Twitter thread and Twitch stream marking the start of the festivities.

Featured in the Twitter thread were in-progress screenshots of models for the Gauss Rifle and Securitron robots, alongside some animated images designed to symbolise perks like shotgun surgeon and factions like the White Glove Society.

Also included were some shots of the specially developed UI and HUD the mod will use, which you can get an early flavour of by downloading a newly released mod from modder m8r98a4f2, called ‘Fallout New Vegas - A FallUI HUD layout’, which brings the new UI to the base game of Fallout 4, minus a couple of special features being saved for Fallout 4 New Vegas’ release.

You can also watch the highlights of a Twitch stream by one of the mod’s creators, SikSikSikki, which featured some live work on the Fiend-occupied location of Vault 3.

The iconic location of The Strip was also discussed during one part of the stream, with SikSikSikki revealing that in addition to making both it and Freeside more open, the team are experimenting with expanding the two areas in order to make them more believably scaled.

Also confirmed were some of what you’ll need to run the mod, with both Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4 and all of the DLC for both games being required, though owning the content from Fallout 4’s creation club won’t be necessary.

So, brush up on your New Vegas lore, check that your spurs still jingle, and make sure to follow us for more updates on massive mods like this one for Fallout, Elden Ring and Skyrim.
