While Fallout 4 is constantly receiving new mods that bring fresh weapons, quests and even some noisy car alarms to The Commonwealth, sometimes you can’t beat delving back into Fallout New Vegas.
After all, with revised faction missions to head out on, vampiric bloodlusts to sate and possibly an alien invasion fight off, provided you win the fight against your load order, the game still has plenty to keep you entertained while you wait for Starfield or Fallout London to finally arrive.
If you’re someone who loves the Mojave largely because of its laundry list of breath-taking and iconic locations, but wishes they felt just as dynamic as your ever-changing relationships with the game’s litany of factions, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Ever wished Fallout New Vegas’ locations could change in line with your character’s actions?
The mod in question is called ‘Lime's Old Mormon Fort Overhaul’ and is the work of modder LimeMods. Some of their previous projects have allowed you to activate the wild wasteland trait by putting on some trendy glasses and move into a crashed monorail car.
This time, they’ve turned their attention to Freeside’s Old Mormon Fort, revamping it into a location that’s “a little more bustling and representative of the Followers as a faction”.
In order to achieve this outcome, while also retaining the stronghold’s vanilla aesthetic and atmosphere, LimeMods has added a number of new buildings and resources to it, including a dedicated clinic tent and garden, as well as some areas for cooking and crafting.
However, the mod’s most interesting feature comes in the form of a selection of dynamic changes and upgrades that’ll be made to the fort’s facilities as you improve your relationship with the Followers as a faction and complete objectives that help them out.
For instance, repairing the water pipe connected to their new garden will see it improved via the addition of harvestable food and a useable water source, while reaching ‘accepted’ status will see the buckets which originally serve as the location’s toilet facilities replaced with proper outhouses, in a move which should arguably see you rocket straight up to ‘idolized’ status.
Once you’ve met their criteria, you might need to exit and re-enter the fort in order to get the upgrades to take effect, but once they have, you’ll be able to marvel at the positive effects your courier can have on the wasteland, aside from exterminating its raider population and drinking all of its Sunset Sarsaparilla.
Regardless of whether you’re now trying your best to make a bunch of very smart people in lab coats view you as more than some idiot who’s constantly showing up to buy all of their stimpaks, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077.
