The latest event crossover in Final Fantasy XIV has begun, offering a wealth of cosmetics inspired by Final Fantasy XVI, one of the biggest RPGs of 2023.

Fans of the MMO were eagerly anticipating this one as it seemed like a no-brainer collaboration, considering both titles are developed by Creative Business Unit III, an internal development team within Square Enix led by Naoki Yoshida.

Furthermore, this collaboration comes at a perfect time, as both the FFXIV Dawntrail expansion and The Rising Tide for FFXVI are releasing later this year. So, if you want to know what's waiting for you with the new FFXIV x FFXVI collaboration let's break it all down.

FFXVI x FFXVII crossover start date

Players will have a little over a month to enjoy everything the crossover has to offer as it started on April 2 and will be available until May 8.

Once the event ends, it'll be impossible to get your hands on all the content featured in this collaboration, which you'll be happy to hear, is entirely free.

How to access

If you're a veteran of the MMO, you'll have no problem picking up the quest, which will be granted to you by a Neophyte Adventurer at the Steps of Nald in Ul'dah.

However, if you're curious about how a new player can take part in this event, you need to complete the following tasks:

  • Get your character to level 50
  • Complete The Ultimate Weapon quest

While FFXIV is a subscription-based MMO, the free trial will allow you to hit up to level 70 and play all the required main quests to be able to unlock the ability to pick up the FFXVI collab quest.
