The FIFA 23 power shot is one of the main new features in the latest annual entry in EA Sports' long-running football franchise. You could always hit the ball very hard towards the goal, but this new animation is specifically tailored towards net-busting power shots designed to leave goalkeepers helpless.

In this FIFA 23 power shots guide, we'll break down how to score power shots and get that edge. That includes details on how to use FIFA 23 power shots, as well as the specific benefits behind them. We'll also go over how to disable the power shot zoom that happens as well: just in case you're being thrown off by it.

FIFA 23 power shot - How do I score power shots in FIFA 23?

If you're wondering whether you need to turn on power shots in FIFA 23, the good news is that it isn't necessarily. This new feature is on by default, so there's no need to fiddle with options.

Once you're in a match and running towards goal, you'll want to hold down both bumper buttons while pressing the shoot command. On PlayStation that is L1 and R1 alongside circle, and on Xbox it's LB and RB with B.

As long as you apply an adequate level of power, the game camera will slowly zoom in as your player takes the shot. The ball will then careen towards goal faster than normal, making it more likely to catch out goalkeepers than regular shots.

Of course, you'll still need to aim the shot as always using the left stick. That will no doubt already be very familiar to FIFA veterans, but remember to point the stick towards the desired side of goal before hitting the shot.

Fortunately, scoring a power shot is as simple as that. Provided your shot is powerful enough to evade the goalkeeper but still on target, you should score more frequently when using power shots.

How do I turn off power shot camera zoom in FIFA 23?

The power shot is one of the most useful new features in FIFA 23 - but there's one element about it that has left fans complaining. Just before you unleash the shot, the game camera pans inwards slightly, zooming in on the player.

While this makes things undeniably more cinematic, it also narrows the parts of the pitch you can see. As such, if the shot doesn't go in and you need to get straight back to playing, you could be at a disadvantage. Fortunately, there's an easy way to switch the camera zoom off.

Simply head to the Settings menu, then choose Game Settings. Scroll across once to Camera, and go to the bottom option, called Power Shot Zoom. Then, toggle it to the off position, and you won't have to deal with that annoyance going forward.
