Final Fantasy 14 may have a new expansion in Dawntrail, but fans are still trying to finish some of the older content in this massive MMO. One player might be considered a legend now, as they did the impossible and completed one of the MMO’s hardest solo challenges after all these years.

Aurora, a content creator and fan of the game, has beaten The Palace of the Dead all by themselves. Making this feat impressive is how the player did this as a Conjurer, one of the more difficult character classes to complete this challenge.

“I spent almost 2 years of my life daily climbing Conjurer solo in PotD. I've lost over 800 hours to this. I've canceled so much to make these streams happen,” Aurora said on Twitter. “July 14, 2024. 62nd attempt. I FINALLY, FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY DID IT. I'M SOBBING SO MUCH.”

Solo challenges in Final Fantasy 14 are difficult since the game’s various dungeons are designed with multiplayer battles in mind. Being able to beat these solo challenges is done for bragging rights and that’s what Aurora did here. The Palace of the Dead is notoriously hard, even for multiplayer parties, as this dungeon is ever-changing, meaning players can’t just memorize the enemies.

Watching players like Aurora challenge themselves in the MMO makes for some quality streams, especially when they fulfill their (final) fantasy. Because of how large the MMO is, Aurora has even more solo challenges to attempt and potentially beat, especially since the Dawntrail expansion is now available.

Dawntrail has continued the ongoing momentum of Final Fantasy 14, even if the developers have made some odd choices with it. Players who attempt to do all of the side quests before finishing the main story might spoil themselves, thanks to a particularly chatty NPC. Curious gamers can buy the game and expansion now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
