Final Fantasy XIV has launched its Dawntrail expansion on Early Access, giving hardcore players the chance to play new content early. Unfortunately, Dawntrail hasn’t had a great launch, with numerous issues affecting the game and annoying fans who wanted to play something smoother.
Director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida has confirmed some of these problems on the game’s official blog, promising fans that they are going to get fixed. The devs at Square Enix are also thinking of releasing a Hotfix as a temporary workaround, but more work will be done to get everything working.
“I would like to extend my apologies once again for the occurrence of these issues. Rest assured, we are committed to addressing issues such as these that occur after the release of an expansion and will continue to promptly correct any urgent issues that may arise,” Yoshi-P wrote.
Some of the problems these Final Fantasy XIV devs have pointed out include the Xbox Series versions becoming unresponsive when moving to a new area. Considering how much travel is done in this MMO, we can easily see why this is a major problem for players who just got this game.
Other issues plaguing the game include certain ultimate attacks not freezing enemies and animation bugs with certain characters. Obviously, these aren’t the worse issues in the world, but they can still be distracting and players have every right to report them.
Hopefully, these issues plaguing Final Fantasy XIV can be dealt with before the Dawntrail expansion is released to everyone else. Because the extra content is still in Early Access, most players won’t have to deal with these issues right away. At the least, these developers now know the issue and can work on ways to solve them before the official launch.
Final Fantasy XIV is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. The Dawntrail expansion officially launches this week, on July 2.
