Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is just a few weeks away and the hype train has left the station. Not only are we getting a State of Play dedicated to the upcoming Square Enix RPG, but we also have multiple interviews from the cast teasing fans with what they can expect.
The FF7 fanbase is known for daydreaming about their favourite characters living a larger-than-life romance, and Tifa Lockhart's VA, Britt Baron, has given fans hope that we'll get to see glimpses of that in Rebirth.
In an interview via Square Enix's blog, Baron stated that fans will be able to expect a ton of surprises, including some potentially surprising fan service elements to the story.
Ok, my message to fans is to be excited, be open-minded because I think we have some really fun surprises, and I think we also have some awesome fan service that will make everyone happy. I’m hoping, knock on wood.
Tifa is one of the most beloved characters in Final Fantasy 7, having a long-lasting friendship with main protagonist Cloud Strife. Some, however, think there's an underlining hint at both wanting something else past friendship.
There's also Aerith and Cloud's infatuation with her. It'll be interesting to see what Britt's teasing, especially considering her comments will likely fuel fan speculation that could lead to disappointment.
In fact, "shippers" and their obsession with seeing characters in blossoming love affairs is something that Cloud VA has criticised in the past, claiming it ruins the perception of Final Fantasy 7's story.
The ESRB rating of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth detailed that some characters will be wearing revealing outfits with "deep cleavage," so we knew at least a little bit of fan service was going to ship with the game.
Whatever type of fan service we're getting, the mystery will be unveiled when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth hits PlayStation 5 on February 29.
