Want to know how to unlock Kujata in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? We've got you covered.

Powerful mythological beings that you can summon to aid you in battles aka Summons, are one of the longest-running staples of the Final Fantasy series. Summon Entities are present in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but you won't unlock them by simply completing the main story. To obtain the six powerful Summons in this game, you first need to defeat them in Chadley's Battle Simulator. Kujata is the fourth Summon boss in line.

You will unlock this encounter in the Battle Simulator when you enter the fourth open-world zone in the game - the Gongaga Region. Let's dive into the next battle.

Kujata Combat Simulator fight guide

Magical wild raging bull Kujata, the guardian of the Gongaga forest, may not be the first legendary beast that comes to mind when you think of Final Fantasy summons, like Phoenix, Ifrit, or Shiva, but it originates from the OG Final Fantasy VII, the 1997 version of the game.

It has also appeared in Final Fantasy XIII, XIV, and XV. The version in VII Rebirth is quite challenging, so check out the guide below to learn the best tactics on how to defeat Kujata and add this powerful Summon Materia to your arsenal:

  • The Kujata encounter will be very element-heavy, as the bull can switch between elemental alignments during the fight. So, you want to bring in three characters with high magic defence and a wide range of elemental attacks at their disposal. You will need fire, ice, and lightning-type magic and attacks.
  • The boss will switch his elemental alignment during the fight. The trick is to observe which element he is currently aligned with and counter with damage of the opposite element, which can cause a pressure state and remove the current elemental affinity.
  • If the elemental affinity is not removed, Kujata will spawn an Elemental Being, And if all three different elements are present, it will unleash the devastating "Tri-Disaster" attack. You don't want this to happen, so keep removing the elemental affinities from the boss by attacking it with opposite elements.
  • The current elemental affinity will be pretty easy to see, for example when in ice element Kujata will be covered in icy spikes followed by the frost mist, etc.
  • Most of Kujata's elemental attacks can easily be dodged or even endured if you have enough HP and magic defence.
  • Attacking with the powerful magic of the right element will quickly fill in the Stagger scale as well, and one Stagger should be enough to nuke it with correct elemental attacks, powerful Synergy moves and your Limit breaks to finish it off in no time.

The battle with Kujata may not be as dramatic as some other Summons in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but it can still be of formidable difficulty if you haven't unlocked the strongest versions of elemental materia or don’t have a party that is resilient enough.

However, as a relief, you can lower the difficulty level to Easy or find the three Summon Crystal shrines on the Gongaga map.

When you analyse these crystals (locations are in the screenshots below), you'll unlock three levels of ease for this boss encounter. It's worth mentioning that finding these crystals (marked on the map as Divine Intel) won't be as straightforward as in the first three regions.

The Gongaga jungle is a very confusing place, and sometimes you'll need to use green regional Chocobo birds to reach these secluded locations.

Once you unlock the Kujata Summon Materia, you can equip it in a weapon slot and summon this mighty beast to aid you in combat. Kujata will deal fire, ice, and lightning damage with separate regular attacks and blast enemies with the combined multi-elemental Tri-Disaster Ultimate attack.

If you find all Summon Crystals, this Summon Materia will level up to level 4, and the Blazing Horn, Chilling Horn, and Crackling Horn additional special attacks will be unlocked for Kujata.
